Victorian oil painting on canvas by local artist Fabian Colenutt ,1884. Image size 21.5 cm x 29.5 cm, frame size 43cm x 51 cm . A still life study of roses in a blue vase on a wooden table with a butterfly . Colenutt is believed to have kept a tobacconists shop in Ryde ,where he painted between serving his customers. He exhibited at the British Institution of fine arts in 1891. He was also listed as one of the chief mourners at John Snowdon Henry’s funeral in 1896. This is a lovely depiction of flowers and a butterfly in good condition ,framed in a heavy antique gilt frame with an inner gilt slip.
